@HD:│ USING THE PROMPTS │
GRUNT! has a prompts for all player interaction. It is the "Bidding?" or
other type of prompt where you enter all your commands.
Example:
(120 Min) Bidding Sire?
You then press the key corresponding with the command you wish to use.
Also remember that higher level baud rates will have a distinct advantage
over lower baud rates. This is due to information being sent faster, thus
allowing faster reactions.

@HD:│ CHECKING YOUR PLAYER STATUS │
Your whole basis in GRUNT! is to survive. You will wish to check your
status often. All you have to do is enter the "Z" (Player Status) and use
the "S" command.
This command will display all information about your player, except what
you are carrying. See the "I" Inventory command to see these.

@HD:│ LOOKING AT YOUR INVENTORY │
Your player in GRUNT! can carry different objects. To view all the objects
in your posession, use the "I" or "Inventory" command (found within your
player status)
Inventory will show all objects, their weight, value, and if they are being
used by your player (ie, wearing armor, wielding a weapon).

@HD:│ PICKING UP AND DROPPING OBJECTS │
There are a wide variety of objects in GRUNT!, from knives to battle axes,
from cloth armor to dragon scale armor. You will often get and drop these
objects as time goes on.
When picking up objects, GRUNT! will prompt you wether or not you wish to
pick them up. Generally you will stumble across an object (in the forest,
graveyard or something somebody dropped in the Arena), or a monster will
drop the weapon for you.
To drop objects, use the (Z) command and the (D)command.

@HD:│ USING ARMOR AND WEAPONS │
In GRUNT! you can fight monsters with your bare hands, or you can wield
some sort of weapon. The same goes for armor. You can take blows from
monsters on your bare skin, or you can wear armor to protect yourself.
To weild and wear objects, use the "W" command in your player commands
(under "Z"). To no longer wear or wield a weapon, use the "U" command
(again, in your player area.)
Remember that some player classes are limited to the type of armor and
weapons.

@HD:│ BUYING AND SELLING OBJECTS │
@HD:Buying.
In GRUNT!, you will often wish to purchase new weapons, armors, wands,
scrolls, or other objects of usefulness. In roaming around the town of
Labuston, you will find shoppes that sell these objects.
To list the objects a store has for sell, simply go into the store. In
Barter Square, the command is "W" and "A". The store keeper will then
respond with a list of objects he has for sell.
Simply press the corresponding letter to purchase an item.
@HD:Selling.
In many parts of Labuston, and other areas in GRUNT!, there are shops where
the merchants will buy items from you. When you have collected enough
treasures, or wish to sell a weapon, then a pawn shope is the place to
trade them in for money. Use the "P" pawn shoppe (in Barter Square) to get
a refund, or to sell an item. Pawnbrokers do not always like to give you
exactly what you purchased for the item or as much as it is worth. You
might need to bargin with them.

@HD:│ FIXING OBJECTS │
Periodically weapons will break in GRUNT! due to over-use. When weapons,
armor, gloves, pants, cloaks, helmets and other objects break, you will
need to take and have it fixed. When a magic item breaks, it looses +2
magic until it becomes non-magical, 20 value points, and 1d(max) hit value.
To fix a weapon, you must find a smithy. By determination of the value of
the object, magic quality, and other factors, the Smithy will come up with
a price to be paid for fixing the object.
NOTE: Fixing items will not increase the magic, value, protection or hit
damamge. Once an object is reduced (depending upon the nature of the
object) to 1d0, the object will no longer be fixable. At this point,
the object will become a "thing" and be valued as such.

@HD:│ SAVING MONEY AT YOUR LOCAL BANK │
In GRUNT!, you will find a very reputable bank. When you collect enough
money, you may make deposits, and, if you should die, or need money, you
can make withdrawls. No loans are allowed.

@HD:│ INCREASING PLAYER STATS │
The main means of increasing a player's power within the game is
accomplished by gaining experience points by fighting monsters. Experience
is gained by defeating any resonably challenging monster in mortal combat.
The tougher the monster in hit points, level, and abilities, the greater
the number of experience points gained at the end of combat. A player who
flees the field of combat receives no points. Once you have successfully
completed the combat, the total experience value of a monster then is added
onto your experience points.
There are many different possible outcomes for any given battle, some are
even gruesome (like your death). The most common is the death of the
monster. Some of the monsters, however, are of cowardly blood, and may
choose to flee the field of battle. If the monster flees, the experience
points for that monster are cut in half and given to the player. If a
player of greater than 3 levels difference causes the monster to flee, then
there will be no experience points awarded. The most spectacular end to
combat is when a cleric "damns and destroys" an undead monster. Under the
right conditions, that monster may decide it is better to fight another day
and flee back to it's natural plane of existance. Of course, you get no
treasure if the monster flees, but only half of it's experience.
Once sufficient experience has been gathered for the next level, the player
must go out to train. feel strangely better" when you have obtained the
right amount of "expereience points needed for next level".
If the player beats the master, the player also receives higher statistics
in fatigue, vitality, magic, strength, constitution, weapon skills,
dexterity, piety, and an assortment of others, making his/her life easier
to fight, and also gives the ability to move out of Labuston into the
surrounding countryside.
The gaining of these bonuses may be lost nearly, if not, as easily as they
are gained. The most common way is through death. Once you have died, as in
reality, that is it. You will have to wait twenty four hours, and you will
then be able to play again-with a totally new character.
The only other way to lose gained abilities is through the rather
unpleasant circumstance of meeting an undead monster with level draining
abilities. This is rare and requires that a monster be the same or higher
level than the player it tries to drain. Tis best to avoid such things.
Also remember that not only undead monsters, such as Vampires, can drain
your levels, but others such as Brain Worm, Rot Grub, Beholders, etc. can
also drain.

@HD:│ COMBAT │
When a player wants to engage in combat with a monster, he need merely to
"A" - attack that monster. Of course, some monsters may decide in advance
for you, so be wary. You can also use the "Circle" command to circle a
monster. Circleing a monster will help to take it off guard, thus making it
easier for you to attack it.
Remeber that "he who runs away, may fight again some other day". "R" to RUN
is quite useful in surviving an encounter that looks to be detrimental.
Every time you fight a player or a monster, you loose one fatigue point.
When your fatigue points hit -0-, you will be too tired to fight any more
that day. You will have to come back the next day (24hrs) to fight again.

@HD:│ RUNNING AWAY FROM BATTLE │
Sometimes the fighting in a room can get out of hand. Many monsters can
block your movement from a room, depending upon their levels vs. yours. In
some situations, you may be very near death and cannot escape. In these
situations you may use the "R" for RUN!!!! command.
Even though you may escape, you loose ONE fatigue point for running away,
and remember, after hitting -0- fatigue, you need to rest for at least
24hrs (real-time).

@HD:│ THE DEATH OF A PLAYER │
When you die, your body is transported away to a safe place. When you come
back into GRUNT! the next day, you will be ressurrected, free of charge.
Any time you die, you loose experience points, plus any gold you are
carrying.
Anyway... All of this could be GREEK, but it's only GRUNT! So enjoy!
